There are many misconceptions when it comes to the purpose of the church. The church’s purpose is not to help the needy, although these things are vital and beneficial to our community. The purpose of the church is not to be a place of social networking. The church is not a denomination or a building. The church is a group of people. The New Testament Church began in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. The example of what the purpose of the church is to be, is laid out in the book of Acts. The church should preach the Word of God, purpose to get people to God, prove that God changes lives, and praise God in all things. If we are not fulfilling the purpose, we are not meeting the need.
