History

Lighthouse Baptist Church was founded in the summer of 1995 by a handful of people with a burden to start a New Testament church in Sandusky, Ohio. Our church was started under the authority of Grace Baptist Church of Middletown, Ohio and Pastor Roger Green. The Man of God who answered the call to pastor our church was Pastor Greg Mann with his wife Wendy. At this time Lighthouse Baptist Church was organized the 1st Sunday, December, 1995, at which time it became an independent, autonomous local church. During this time the church grew steadily and surely in the Word of God.

Lighthouse Baptist Church began meeting in Pastor Mann’s home and moved to different locations including Sandusky High School and then the location at 2130 Milan Road With vision and determination, the building was remodeled by its pastors and people.

During this time of remodeling, Pastor Greg Mann felt the Lord’s hand in moving him and his family to the mission field of Guyana, South America. He resigned the pastorate of LBC in the summer of 1999 and started raising financial support to assist in going to South America. That summer started the process of finding a new pastor for Lighthouse Baptist Church. In November of 1999, the church called Richard C. Mick to its pastorate. Pastor Mick, along with his wife Karen, and children, moved from Indianapolis, IN to Sandusky the second week of December, 1999.

The building continued its remodeling until it was sold in December of 2002 in order to purchase its current location at 2222 Cleveland Road. The Lord blessed us in enabling us to obtain our current property. Previously, it was used as a funeral home . God, however, has changed it from a place of death to one of life and blessing through the preaching of the gospel of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.

In June of 2006, our Assistant Pastor Michael K. Jamison, joined our ministry with his wife, Teresa, and children, Leah, Hannah, Levi, Abigail, and Noah. In April of 2007, Pastors Assistant Joel Capizzi joined our staff with his wife Deanna and son Nathan.

Lighthouse Baptist Church has continued to grow steadily. Our church has been aggressive in its desire to grow in a biblical and God-honoring manner. It is our desire to fill up the current sanctuary and add on in the future as the Lord leads. Our church has always been one with vision to build a scriptural church that will bring honor and glory to God. We believe our history has only just started with more to be added throughout the years to come. You are welcome to help write our history by joining Lighthouse Baptist Church.
