A pretty amazing thing occurred to me today. It seems that we are less than 50 days out from Baptist Snow Camp 2009! This year BSC will be held December 28-30 at our usual location in Sinclairville, NY. I honestly cannot tell you where the time has gone, but I am getting more and more excited about it as each day passes. There is much to do in order to have a successful winter retreat, one of those being, making sure that you get there!
Consider this your personal invitation! We want you! Baptist Snow Camp exists for the purpose of drawing teens closer to Christ. The way this is achieved is through a camp that is preaching centered. This camp will serve as an encouragement, to campers and counselors alike, to continue standing for the faith.
There is no way to have Baptist Snow Camp without the games and competition, in other words, the fun stuff! We try and make our games enjoyable and exciting for all our campers and counselors. Each year we host a Bible quiz, guy’s football competition and girl’s hockey competition, not to mention the team games which may include games such as nerf war and tubes, just to name a few. We also offer skit competitions, so any church wishing to participate will be able to sign up when they register at the camp grounds.
BSC is committed to keeping our costs down in order to pass that savings on to you. We are here to change young people’s hearts so we want to make sure our camp is affordable to all who wish to attend. Our camp fee is only $53! This cost will cover your registration and meals.
So you may be asking yourself, how in the world do I get to attend such an amazing camp? I’m glad you asked. All it takes is a short registration form filled out and sent in, along with your registration fee, by the Youth Director or Pastor of the attending church. If your church has not received one of these forms and would like attend BSC, contact us.
Now that you have committed to come, you are going to need to know a few things that are an absolute must at BSC. First things first, bring your Bible and a notebook and pen! The ability to follow along during the preaching greatly impacts how much you get from any given sermon. As far as I’m concerned, the next most important thing you can put in your suitcase is any and all toiletries that you will need over the course of the few days you will be with us. It sounds silly to have to say this, but bring your toothbrush and toothpaste! Don’t forget your soap and shampoo! These very simple things will allow the people that are in close contact with you to be able to have a more enjoyable camp experience!
Other things that may be helpful to remember are a sleeping bag or sheets and blanket, pillow, towels, flashlight, warm clothing, winter coat, gloves, boots, hat, spending money for offerings and snack shop and dress clothes for services. We appreciate you wearing modest or loose fitting clothing. If needed, culottes may be purchased at our snack shop for a reasonable price. And last but not least…don’t forget to bring a GREAT ATTITUDE! Your attitude spreads easily to others, so please stay positive and excited about the things to come.
